Does anyone know if this also occurs with the 3.5 kernel or just 3.6 and
3.7?

Jos Poortvliet (from openSUSE) has an article about his install of
opensuse with samsung-laptop and UEFI:
http://blog.jospoortvliet.com/2012/09/linux-and-samsung-
series-9-np900x3c.html

He has zero issues with booting but he's on the 3.5 kernel. So it made
me wonder if the issue isn't just samsung-laptop but maybe something
between that and a change to the kernel?
