Fixed it for myself by adding this to my userChrome.css:

.urlbar-security-level[level="high"] {
        background-color: #dfa !important;
        color: #000 !important;
}

The location bar has a css setting which renders to black (which is ok
for itself, the problem is using this):

background-color: infobackground;
