This problem is still reproducible (I'm still using obiaf's PPA).

But I got a new clue: Lockups only occur, when I start graphic-heavy
stuff (games, OpenGL, ... but not: Flash on Youtube or other media
playback) with power-profile set to "low" on my card (HD 3650). Doing
the same things on "high" causes no problems. I can even "trick" some
Lockups with quick-switching from "low" to "high"-profile, when my mouse
freezes and the screen starts blanking...

That's my workaround for now ;)
