Public bug reported:

Geoip check is currently used to determine if your timezone has changed.
It connects to canonical servers on every boot. There is currently no
way to remove the geoclue-ubuntu-geoip package without also removing
indicator-datetime. Please reduce the dependency on the geoclue-ubuntu-
geoip package to a recommends so users that do not need timezone
adjustment or privacy-aware people can un-install it.

** Affects: indicator-datetime (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
