Same issue with Toshiba A30-141 Tested on Dapper and Edgy beta 2 both don't detect the Alps touchpad. It looks like it is kernel bug becouse /proc/bus/input/device doesn't show the touchpad. I compiled vanilla kernel and touchpad works, it works on other debian kernel too. On request I will attach lspci and /proc/bus/input/devices from debian kernel.
