I'd like to second apinunit (comment #36) that the cifs solution is a workaround. But the GNOME people do NOT seem to be interested in solutions that kind. They're dreaming of a "tablet" gnome, disregarding the wishes of their users... So for me it looks like that GNOME is dying, which is a shame... Did anybody woke up there and questioned, why so many user are switching to Linux Mint and other Distros? So I do not expect that the fuse problem will be fixed - and being used to OO Languages I'm simply incapable browsing thru a badly documented C-Code. I appreciate and respect the work the guys do at Debian, Red Hat and Ubuntu, but thats beyond my capabilities...
