Christopher, I personally do not need a backport to a release prior to Precise. However, I do not understand why this means the bug is "Invalid". I have documented a bug in Ubuntu 10.04LTS which is supported until 2013-04 (Client) and 2015-04 (Server). Therefore, I would have expected "Confirmed" or maybe "Won't Fix".
At least one other Ubuntu user has reported a very similar issue: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/894188 Also outside launchpad I found multiple instances of this issue, e.g. these: * http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1454500.html * http://blog.janjonas.net/2010-01-03/fit-pc2-fixed-random-system-freezes-on-linux I have seen multiple advices for changing a BIOS setting called "Processur full speed" from "C-States" to "GV3 Only" to work around the problem in the Ubuntu kernel. Marking the ticket as "Invalid" make me think that I wasted many, many hours of reverse kernel bisecting. I would suggest marking the ticket "Confirmed" or (in the event you don't think it is worth back porting the fix) marking it "Won't Fix". In the latter case, others experiencing this issue can find the ticket and see that the problem is confirmed but that it is not going to be fixed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1066496 Title: fit-pc2 on Ubuntu 10.04 hangs/freezes after high network load To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1066496/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
