I had the same problem. I backed up the .evolution-folder in my home
directory and then deleted it. I started evolution, which was suddenly
no problem. Putting the whole old .evolution folder back in place made
the problem reappear. However, if I just copy the subfolder "local", I
have all my old mails back and evolution works again. I have no time for
further tests, which subfolder actually initiates the problem, but as
far as I see it, if you don't have many filter rules, it should work
fine. However, I don't know what the subfolder "cache" is for and I
don't use any other evolution function than mail.
