Did you try changing settings from alsamixer in terminal? I selected audigy from the sound settings then whent into alsamixer and changed the tone to on and after that you have to change the audio level for pcm that your using and master. I don't know where you can select your primary sound card but the sound settings switch from motherboard sound to audigy.
