I believe I have discovered what the issue might be. I don't believe this is driver related in my case. What I did was opened up the bottom of the laptop and discovered that there is only one antenna lead (black) not 2. What I did was swapped the terminal that the wire was connected to, moved it from M to A. I then did some tests , walking away from the AP, then moving around the house and am able to maintain a stable connection.
