After suggestion https://bugs.launchpad.net/deja- dup/+bug/882699/comments/5 I created another folder ("also-dup/David") on Ubuntu One and everything appeared to be working. It was backing up for a while, but this morning I got this "code 500" error again. So that work-around didn't work for me.
