That's a complete different problem. And a critical one to boot.
Normally if it breaks that early it is because the initramfs is broken
and needs to be rebuilt. Try passing nomodeset to your kernel as it
boots and see if that makes diagnosing the problem easier.

Besides the date on kernel is earlier than the patch I referenced to fix
the original issue.
