I have the latest 12.10 ubuntu running and it keeps occuring. When I have the laptop playing some music and I plug in the usb soundcard when I get home at 1 AM it still wakes my neighbors cause it's on full volume and I can't change it until I actually select the right soundcard from the sound device configuration.
