Public bug reported: running apt-get update: [ discussed in question #223040 ]
i have tried/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/80proxies with contents: Acquire::http::proxy "http://ipv6onlydqdn:port/"; and when this didnt work tried: Acquire::http::proxy "http://[ipv6address]:port/"; both times i see the following messages: W: Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise-updates/universe/i18n /Translation-en Unable to connect to ipv6onlydqdn:8123: or W: Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise-updates/universe/i18n /Translation-en Unable to connect to 2axx:1234:1234:0:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:8123: E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
