Seems maybe not all of you have the same problem-cause... Anyway I had a similar problam copying from a samba share on Ubuntu 12.04 to Windows XP. The transfer would start but after a while hang. The same would happen using ftp on the same computers and network.
Today I tried changing MTU (System Settings ... Network ... options ... tab wired) on the Ubuntu pc, from "automatic" to 1000. This value is just a wild guess after my first try of 1500. Now files transfer perfectly! Maybe this has something to do with the "Path MTU Discovery black hole" meaning: when one computer tries to send bigger packets over the network, somehow the error message from the receiving computer does not reach the original sender. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1075923 Title: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1075923/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
