Yes, as I commented above I am aware this currently affects an LTS
release. I checked in both releases, and since the program no longer
crashes in 12.10, that means that the newer version includes some fix
for this. Naturally fixes and new versions are first applied in newer
releases, but by applying for a Stable Release Upgrade it is possible to
get it into older, currently supported releases too. If the bug is
serious enough (as in this case) the specific patch fixing the issue can
be applied to packages in older releases or a newer version of the
software can be repackaged.
