I downgraded libx11-6 and libx11-xcb1 with the following: sudo apt-get install libx11-6=2:1.5.0-1 libx11-xcb1=2:1.5.0-1
The workaround mentioned at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /nvidia-graphics-drivers-310/+bug/1134030 in Bug #1134030 comment #5 by Dmitry Pankratov (dremon) stops skype from crashing for me.
