My notebook (MSI M610) does boot when I set the kernel boot option
"acpi=off", so it seems to be an acpi-problem. "/var/log/messages/ shows
me this error: "apm: BIOS not found." Without acpi this notebook is
nearly unusable (no power management...), so please fix this...
