This is still an issue on a fresh Feisty AMD 64 install under KDE
running the 2.6.20-16 kernel. I have swapped to a PS2 mouse, and that
seems to have fixed the problem. I can confirm that:

After some period of time (minutes to hours) a logitech USB mouse stops
working. (Light out)
Replugging does not fix the problem, nor can another mouse be added. All USB
ports are dead. This includes both front and back ports.

System responds normally to keyboard commands, and retains
responsiveness.

System hangs on reboot.

With multiple USB mice (one front one back) one will freeze up, then
some time later the second will freeze as the rest of the USB ports die.

Removing the USB mouse before boot seems to fix the problem.
