Additional information: I deleted ~/.config/monitors.xml and let it be re-created the next time I logged in and set up my monitor configuration using the Displays dialog under System Settings. This had no effect (the same issue was present the next time I logged in). I have attached the newly created monitors.xml. I took a look at the file and nothing appears amiss with it.
