Happened again. Always the thunderbird launcher icon (in this case thunderbird was already open). The system had been running for a long time.
This time, like the first time, I couldn't do ctrl+alt+F1 because it didn't respond even to keyboard. So I had to power down and lost all my unsaved data. This is critical. Almost certainly triggered by some huge bug in Thunderbird, but on a decent OS neiter the most buggy or malicious program should ever, ever, be able to render the whole system unrecoverable. This kind of thing didn't happen with gnome by the way. Every major release of Ubuntu is a step backwards in stability. It has already got below Windows Vista and Windows ME. Linux is considered the most stable, secure and reliable OS, Ubuntu is on its way to become the most unstable and unreliable ever. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1134357 Title: Whole system hangs; Ctrl+Alt+F1 followed by Ctrl+Alt+F7 fixes it (when possible at all) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1134357/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
