** Attachment added: "An old dmesg output"
   http://launchpadlibrarian.net/8528228/dmesg.txt

** Description changed:

I have experienced the following "bug": When I login on my Ubuntu Feisty
Fawn I get the solid camel color desktop background (same of the login
screen) and it gets black when I enable Desktop Effects. Some windows
just show the decorations and not its content os buttons, just an empty
windows with border and top buttons. The system also gets too slow to
- show the logout/shutdown/reboot windows when there is no background.
+ show the logout/shutdown/reboot windows when the background issue comes
+ up. Icons like the usb connected and mountes devices also doesn't
+ appear.

When I click on System -> Preferences -> Desktop Background the
desktopbackground appears as it should , but when I log out (or even
reboot the computer) I get the solid camel background or the black
background (when Desktop effects is activated).

The computer where all of this happens is a Dell Latitude 100L Notebook.
The graphic chipset is Intel 915GM, the processor is Intel Celeron 360M
  with 512MB RAM.
