This is tremendously annoying and it's only one of the endless
regressions in Unity. Canonical should SERIOUSLY consider rolling back
to Gnome which was much more stable and usable (or to whatever MATURE
and reliable, serious destop environment, unlike Unity which looks like
an alpha release). The switch to Unity has been a huge step backwards in
usability and has ONLY brought glitches, bugs, unusability, in change of
what? supposed better aesthetics?

Why the QA team wastes effort in changing aesthetics while LOOSING
usability (another esample are the demential autohide scrollbars; the
compiz animations that don't work properly on NVidia cards and are just
a pain in the ass because they are slow) instead of centering effort
in fixing critical bugs (such as connectivity bugs [it's easier to
connect to the internet with a damn smartphone than with an ubuntu
computer], crasher bugs, fixing suspend/hibernate bugs that make you
loose data) is beyound me.
