So I tried to reproduce the issue and I am now sure that installing all updates
on the fresh 12.10 install brings a black picture to the webcam on my Acer
Laptop.
I tried Cheese and Skype on the fresh install of Ubuntu 12.10 without updates -
everything works just fine.
After I have installed all of the 270+ updates my webcam just gives me a black
picture in both Cheese and Skype and the LED is flashing just as usually.
So updates seem to affect the functionality of my webcam.
