Public bug reported:

When it appears it flashes in hte middle of the screen for a moment, most
visible when using a openGL application/game (supertuxkart/hedgewars)
i usually notice it when gmusicbrowser changes tracks (via its notify plugin)

when using compiz it can also result in some lag

on a side would be nice if the placement was 10-20 pixels lower on the
screen
