Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apt

This morning the pop-up at the adept notifier icon in the KDE panel told
me that there were 4 packages to update. However when I opened the adept
updater I was told that there was one package to update and ten to
remove. To be more precise, it said:

devhelp installed remove
firefox upgradable remove
firefox-dev upgradable remove
firefox-dev upgradable remove
firefox-gnome-support upgradable remove
flashplugin-nonfree upgradable upgrade
gnome-devel installed remove
gnome-user-guide installed remove
gnucash-docs installed remove
miro installed remove
ubuntu-docs installed remove
yelp installed remove

Miro I installed from a 3rd party repository and I have had some issues
with it, nevertheless, when I right click on it and select "cancel"
changes, I now get the following list:

devhelp installed remove
firefox upgradable no change
firefox-dev upgradable no-change
firefox-dev upgradable remove
firefox-gnome-support upgradable remove
flashplugin-nonfree upgradable upgrade
gnome-devel installed remove
gnome-user-guide installed remove
gnucash-docs installed remove
miro installed remove
ubuntu-docs installed remove
yelp installed remove

Not only has miro been removed from the list of changes, but firefox and
firefox-dev are now "no change".

When I then cancel the change to ubuntu-docs, the changes to gnome-user-
guide and yelp also get cancelled (as one might expect, I guess).

Then when I right click on firefox and firefox-dev to request upgrade,
the following get added to the list:

libnspr-dev not installed install
libnspr4 not installed install
libnspr4-dev installed remove
libnss-dev not installed install
libnss3 not installed install
libnss3-dev installed remove

Could this be the source of the confusion, some kind of circular
dependency problem like Gentoo users sometimes get with portage?

After that, when I select upgrade for firefox-gnome-support and "no
change" for the remaining 2 packages, there are no unexpected changes.
