Public bug reported:
the laptop connected to an external display, it is driving only the
external display when attached. if the hdmi cable is removed whilst lid
is closed, upon opening the lid computer behaves as normal. if lid is
opened beforehand and the hdmi cable is removed, it causes system to
crash, displaying screen corruption, being unresponsive to any
input(capslock on /of virtual terminal etc).
