Public bug reported:
After upgrade to quantal a few days ago the grphical environment fails
to start when the computer boots. I've tried switching to a VT (which
works) and starting lightdm myself. This also fails; It seems to exit as
soon as it starts. When this happens the lightdm log has several broken
pipe errors at the end.
The system will boot up fine if I edit the grub command line and remove
$vt_handoff from the end
