Public bug reported:
Using Sound Juicer, Rhythmbox or K3B, CD ripping to OGG is impossibly
slow (the fastest it's been is .5x, but it is usually .10x--those are
decimals in front of those previous two figures). I've searched
ubuntuforums and I've also submitted a question to ubuntuforums and the
Sound Juicer project page; neither has netted a solution. Searching
ubuntuforums, I keep seeing the suggestion to make sure DMA is enabled
on my CDROM device. I've done that and it hasn't helped. I'm at a
complete loss.
I'm running a clone minitower pc with an AMD 64 chip (although I'm
running 32bit feisty), 2 gb of memory, 160 gb disk.
