I have not much knowledge about this stuff, but as I experienced a huge
increase of gpu hanges in the last days too (probably after the same
kernel update as mentioned here) and the automatically bug reportage
seems to not work (some problems with the /usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-
error-intel.py) I'll try to provide helpfull information here.

Please tell me which information you need (and how to get them). I'm happy to 
help as far as I can.
I'm running Ubutun 12.10 on an Lenovo Thinkpad X220. The system infomation in 
the Gnome system panel say "unknown" for my graphics. Couldn't find anything in 
lshw that fits either...
I'll attach a i915_error_state [1], hopefully it is helpfull.
