I agree, this bug isn't fixed in Quantal (as it wasn't in Precise):

#> sudo hostname just-modified-my-hostname
#> sudo whoami
sudo: unable to resolve host just-modified-my-hostname
root
#> sudo cat /etc/lsb-release
sudo: unable to resolve host just-modified-my-hostname
