Sorry for the delayed response. Fn+Space turns the keyboard backlight and Thinklight on, but does nothing for the screen brightness. Please also see this report: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51131
Aaron at the end says we're depending on Nvidia for brightness control. Is this true?
