I now have a working unity session going, using a combination of: sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgl1-mesa-dri libgl1-mesa-glx sudo update-alternatives --config x86_64-linux-gnu_gl_conf dconf reset -f /org/compiz/
I'll see if I can get fglrx or radeon working by making sure the GL modules are correct.
