If that fixed your issue then it might be a duplicate of Bug #3731 . 5 needs clarification - do you know that every time a kernel or a mesa update comes out you will have to reinstall envy (see http://albertomilone.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Main .Envy-InstructionsForUbuntu )? I believe eclipse and Java are already packaged for Ubuntu so if you want the easy life it's best to stick to the already packaged versions...
