sudo apt-get install rxvt-unicode
sudo update-alternatives --config x-terminal-emulator
Select whichever option makes urxvt your terminal emulator.
Click on the "gear" icon in the dock to bring up the system settings.
Click on "Keyboard"
Click on "Shortcuts"
Click on "Launch terminal" and assign a key of your choice
Close settings
Hit the key you assigned.
In the terminal that arrives, run "pstree -s $$" to see the ancestors of
the current process. It'll be gnome-terminal rather than urxvt.
