The log files that you have attached indicate a failure to upgrade due
to an inability to calculate the upgrade:
Investigating (9) rhythmbox-data [ i386 ] < none -> 2.96-0ubuntu4.2 > ( gnome )
Broken rhythmbox-data:i386 Breaks on rhythmbox [ i386 ] < 0.12.8-0ubuntu7 ->
2.96-0ubuntu4.2 > ( gnome ) (< 2.90.1~git20111117.f101562-1)
Considering rhythmbox:i386 14 as a solution to rhythmbox-data:i386 15
Upgrading rhythmbox:i386 due to Breaks field in rhythmbox-data:i386
It appears that you have version of gnome installed from a PPA as
2.90.1~git20111117.f101562-1 does not appear in the official Ubuntu
archive. The distribution upgrade process was subsequently unable to
calculate the upgrade. I'd try reinstalling the official versions of
Ubuntu packages and then try upgrading again. Good luck!
