I have the described issue as well and tested with the latest 3.9.0 kernel as recommended. The issue still exists.
The summary line was misleading. The kernel will actually find the harddrive find but /dev/mapper/lubuntu-root does not exist, even though /dev/sda* does. My system is i386 and has a fully encrypted drive. ** Summary changed: - Newly updated kernel doesn't detect HDD + >=linux-image-3.5.0-26-generic initramfs won't mount root partition ** Tags added: kernel-bug-exists-upstream -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1157564 Title: >=linux-image-3.5.0-26-generic initramfs won't mount root partition To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1157564/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
