Joseph.

3.8.3 builds a new efi, 3.8.2 builds a new efi, 3.8.4 doesn't. however
on reboot the minute I enable secure boot non of them boot. I'm
wondering if I need to enable the secure boot for the kernel to be able
to utilise the key in the UEFI. I don't know how it all works but then
I can't boot the machine.

If you let me know a way around it I'm happy to try. I'm assuming it
will require a live cd and a chroot of some sort.
