I too am experiencing the same issue, as soon as update occured docky froze everything and like you stated the only thing that fixes the issue is to hard reboot. Now after a few days of the update when I reboot the laptop, docky shows up and then immediately closes.
Has anyone responded to you with a fix? If not, will have to look at Docky's help page.
