I used Startup Disk Creator to erase and re-create an installer USB stick and it also failed on the second boot (and subsequent boots). This time the error was more clear:
General error mounting filesystems. A maintenance shell will now be started. CONTROL-D will terminate this shell and reboot the system. bash: groups: command not found root@ubuntu-gnome:~# Ctrl+D just reboots. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1164633 Title: live image created by Startup Disk Creator fails to boot a second time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1164633/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
