Thanks Adam, it's something that annoys quite some people indeed. We are
not sure what to do at the moment, nautilus 3.6 is an user regression
compared to 3.4 on several fronts.
We are discussing adding back nautilus 3.4 as an option (and maybe make
it the default in Ubuntu) but it's an unmaintained software upstream and
it doesn't seem to be a good idea to suggest it to users if we are not
going to have the resources to fix issues with it...
