I had this bug ever for several years, ever since installing ubuntu on an Advent 5411, over several different versions including 10.10 and 12.04 (current). Previously, if I wanted to use headphones on this machine, I had to use an external USB sound card.
After confirming this bug, I did a little more googling regarding SigmaTel STAC 9205 Headphone Jack problems and found a fix in this link: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1219505 In my case (12.04), this was a case of editing /etc/modprobe.d/alsa- base.conf to add the following line at the bottom: options snd-hda-intel model=eapd position_fix=1 Followed by a reboot. This fixed the problem for me and now I can use the headphone jack for the first time ever. Hope this helps someone. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/668030 Title: [SigmaTel STAC9205] Playback problem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/668030/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
