Ok. Booted into a precise install and ran 3.2 kernel (default from
install) and it's fine. Also installed 3.8.0-18-generic kernel from
raring
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/3.8.0-18.28/+build/4486060)
, and that seems fine too.

So that implies something other than the kernel has changed which breaks
this?

What now? Individually update packages like wpasupplicant, network-
manager?
