A few comments for you.... Version 0.4-3ubuntu0.1 for version (it's not a rebuild and the 0 to keep it below the Gutsy version number) would be better (not an essential change, but since you're going to be updating it anyway).
For an SRU, it's important to keep the change as small and simple as possible. Rather than add a patch, in this case, it would be better to modify the upstream source directly. Those are my suggestions.
