Hi! Maybe my foundings can help! I had a Ubuntu 12.10/3.5.0-27 with the "blank screen behavior". I am running Ubuntu 12.10 on Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P9700 2*2.80 GHz with Intel GM 45 Express Chipset. I upgraded to Ubuntu 13.04 (it took a couple of hours, anyone else experienced that?) but the same black screen problem! I found this link http://ubuntu-tutorials.com/2010/05/06/ubuntu-10-04-lucid-blank-screen-at-startup-workaround/ from 2010 !! And there I found the solution at least for me having a nVidia graphic Card. The steps are: 1) Edit "/etc/default/grub" as administrator 2) Update this line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset" with the option "nomodeset" for nVidia Enter a similar hardware specification for other graphic cards. 3) Run "update-grub" as administrator I am back on track again!!! /Ingmar O -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1158562 Title: system will not start after updating to kernel 3.5.0-27 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-lts-quantal/+bug/1158562/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
