It'll take me a couple of days to try this. I've been running 13.04 from a live USB stick, mainly because I wanted to see if MTP to my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 Android devices is working, which it is.
Anyway I installed the new kernel onto 13,04 running on the USB stick thinking it would be OK, but I got errors and now on boot from the live USB I get a message saying no HD or similar.
