I've been having similar problems, not sure if my problem is this exact one. But my machine does have r8169, and it does seem that like op every 1-5 boots or so I get a kernel panic. Mainline kernel works fine, only the latest raring kernel gives me the issue.
I've also had another issue with this kernel where at random pulseaudio doesn't load and gives me a "dummy" output, also whenever this issue occurs if I try and reboot it hangs indefinitely. Again, fine with mainline kernel.
