Just weighing in to say that other Linux based systems like Openelec
(even on the Raspberry Pi) has this capability to discover and browse
NFS shares on the same network. And not just NFS but SMB and AFP as
well.

In the light of this it seems like a big thing for Ubuntu to be missing
out on this. This is something people could be using on a daily basis
and it lacks the Just Works factor. Even worse, it has the it Just
Doesn't Work No Matter What factor, which kind of sucks, given all the
building blocks are already there (because it's possible to do it from
the CLI and with some config file editing).

Imagine cheap network attached storage drives like the WD MyBook Live.
NFS is great on it, SMB is load of crap and slow as hell. Even AFP is
faster when used from an RaspberryPi with Openelec.

Just my thoughts.
