Hi I have got the same problem after upgrade to Ubuntu 13.04 (kernel 3.8.0-19-generic). computer : DELL inspiron 15R SE video: ATI 7730M + INTEL 4000 With old kernel 3.5.0-17 it works normal. the command /bin/echo 0 > /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness turns off the backlight completely.
