I did perform further testing with Gimp+jpeg by holding and re-enabling the queue. Interesting results !
printing on 4x6 media type photo paper semi gloss. No print. Changed to A4 media type plain paper. Print OK. No changes in settings. Just print. Print OK. Saved the file with this page size information. Open the saved file in Gimp. Print on A4 plain paper. Print OK. Changed to 4x6 & photo paper semi gloss. Printer printed - but outside the paper ( I did not check the size tab, the image was in the corner of the page like if the media size was A4) Adjusted the size settings to fit the 4x6 paper. No print. Repeated just the print. No print. Close Gimp. Reopen. The image size was ok for the paper. No print. This is confusing to me but hopefully of some help for the team. Some how it looks fi there was something wrong with the media size settings.
